Oh man, I was so close to posting a picture of my cat. My photography instructor would have absolutely crushed me for that. Father Martin is a tough cookie when it comes to adorable pet photos...

273/365 - let me in!
I went to this elementary school for six years, now it is closed. I think my kids could still have a chance at success, but who knows?
272/365 - pita face
My girls love pitas, tortillas, lavash...Anything that can be turned into a ridiculous mask. It's good to be a kid.
271/365 - the walker
OK, can a kid get any happier than this? She started walking a few weeks ago, but limited herself to 3-4 steps a day. Today, she busted out!

270/365 - sad start to the day
At 5:15am I was out of the house and heading to the Y for a little workout when I smelled the smoke. The house was about 200 yards from ours and the flames were reaching high in the sky. Luckily everyone made it out ok, but the home was lost completely.
269/365 - tasty leaf
Some creatures are snacking on our hollyhock. I will send them a little thank you note for helping my POTD.
268/365 - back to school
Perfect expressions for the first day of school. Gabby is the old-pro, looking confident and self-assured. Alex is really excited, but still has a touch of the butterflies.

265/365 - three sisters
Can I be only 100 away from completing this journey? The next three months are going to be tough. Volleyball started last week, school starts on Tuesday...Could be some interesting entries ahead...
263/365 - late
Pretty sad this was my best shot if the day. It was an iPhone capture as I was coming home. I snapped it with the hope of texting it to my wife to let her know I was getting close. Blah!!!
262/365 - my agapantha don't want none....
On our after-dinner walk tonight, I had just enough time to snag this. My girls and the dog are not very patient with dad wanting to stop and take photographs.

260/365 - puff!
A little bit low on inspiration for shooting today. Don't get me wrong, it was a good day. It was the first practice of the season for my volleyball team and they looked great. Just did not have the creative juices flowing after over 6 hours in the gym...

259/365 - the end of summer
Bittersweet day at the beach. Tomorrow we are officially back to school. It's nice that, as a teacher, we still get that feeling at the end of each summer. Hope it's going to be a good year!
257/365 - batting practice
San Francisco Giants....Torture. Hit the game tonight with my good friend. This was a shot of the bleachers during the Padre's batting practice.
258/365 - seriously?
Our girls have all been good eaters. Our 5-year old, when asked what she wanted for her 5th birthday dinner wanted mussels and salmon. Our little 1-year old might take the cake. We went out for sushi tonight and she ate: Udon, lemon (from the water), teriyaki chicken, Unagi (eel), Tobiko (flying fish roe) and even smiled when I gave her a bit of the head from my Kirin! Impressive display!

256/365 - ocean panel
Great beach day today. I actually felt relaxed and had a blast making mermaid necklaces for the girls (and moms). Loved the blue of the ocean today. This is one shot that I divvied up in Photoshop. Not sure why, I just felt like it might be cool...
255/365 - caught in the act
Our youngest has learned where the snack drawer is and how to open it. Convenient that it is at perfect toddler level...

253/365 - and who are you?
Didn't have my macro lens for this, but the flower was so big and too cool to pass up. The sunlight was barely grazing it by the time we cruised by, but I think it was just enough.
My question is, "What is this?" It is a vine and the fruits give way to a cool green pod that looks a bit like a kiwi fruit, albeit fairly hollow inside.

252/365 - beach day, finally
We have not been to the beach enough this summer. We are kicking ourselves now, but in 3 months we will be even more upset with ourselves.
251/365 - stairs
I almost really like this. We took the train up to San Francisco to check out the farmers market at the Ferry Building. This is the girls at the station before the train arrived. I just wish I had been able to center the symmetry a skosh better.
250/365 - just goofin'
Call it a chuckle, giggle, chortle, laugh...These three have perfected the art. Sometimes I can imagine them, twenty years from now, still cracking each other up thinking about all the crazy stuff they did.
249/365 - jumpy frog
Happy Hollow! Our default "what are we going to do today?" spot. The kids love it and sprint around trying to get on as many rides as they can.
248/365 - a flower for fred
Fred Walters is my wife's Grandfather. He would have been 100 years old today. I only met him a few times before he passed away, but he was, as my wife says, "the last true gentleman."
Fred wanted to come back as a hummingbird, if reincarnation was an option. Every time one visits our backyard, our kids cry out, "There's great-grandpa!" I went out into the backyard hoping to catch him cruising by, but settled for this shot of his favorite rose.
As I turned to head back inside, a hummingbird buzzed past me and over the fence. Kinda cool.
Happy Birthday Fred.

247/365 - skirts
Michele handmade these skirts for our girls and they showcased them tonight at National Night Out. Not sure why I did not get a pair of matching boardshorts, but whatever...
246/365 - dog walk
Our poor Marsh is getting older. He is almost completely deaf and his hips are not what they used to be. Still, nothing makes him happier than spending time with his girls. Hoping we have many more walks in us...
245/365alt - gardening day
Got some great planting help from the young ones today. My 5 year old took a far better shot than this. I have come to terms that she is better than I am...
245/365 - fried
Fried squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese, fresh ricotta, garlic and herbs... I think my wife and I could handle a Bobby Flay "Throwdown" with these puppies...
244/365 - pick-your-own
Pick-your-own strawberries today. Does anything taste more like summer than a freshly-picked strawberry?
243/365 - cowbaby up!
She actually hated this hat, but her sisters kept putting it on her. She fought it until she saw my camera come out. After that, it was all smiles. This girl loves a photo shoot.
242/365alt - gabby as god
So she enters the classroom at Vacation Bible School, raises her arms and announces to the everyone there, "I am the Lord"...Good heavens!
241/365 - mama
I am sure she is constantly feeling under-appreciated, but we would honestly not survive without her. Love you mama!
