Well...as of this morning, I had no idea what I was going to do with the final shot of my 365. I felt I had to do something a bit out of the ordinary, but was really struggling on a concept.
Not sure how this one came to be, but as a student was finishing up their Algebra exam after school, I set up my camera on my desk, grabbed my remote shutter release and started clicking away. Poor kid! (Don't worry, he got an A and he had a good chuckle or two at my antics as well)
The tone of the image may suggest that I am bored or tired out from this year-long project. Actually, it is quite the opposite as I am completely filled with joy right now.
Although there were times where I struggled along the way, my wife, kids, students and friends helped keep me on track. To all my flickr contacts and all the others I have met along the way, a huge thank you. It was truly a pleasure traveling this road with you.
Well, that is it! Wow!

364/365 - quiz bokeh
Grading Stat quizzes in front of our Christmas tree. Fun times!
Tomorrow is my last day. I have no idea what I am going to do...

362/365 - g's new axe
Sometimes I can't tell if she is turning 7 or 17. The fact that she likes to hold my hand, read bedtime stories, and thinks boys are gross helps remind me she is still my little girl.
361/365 - hot cocoa and papa
A new chocolate cafe opened up nearby and my father-in-lay treated me and the girls to a hot chocolate. Baby got a cup of whipped cream and marshmallows. So happy.

359/365 - play hard, drool harder
I love long breaks. They give me time to catch up on things that are really important.
358/365 - the probability of a kiss
Left my camera at home today, so yet another iPhone POTD. I need to pull it together!
21 November 2010
355/365 - my goose
A storm hit the west coast over the past few days, but late this afternoon we were treated to some beautiful sunshine. My oldest is a bit like that. She is either bright sunshine or dark, rainy storm. I love her either way, but boy, that sunshine is really warm. Love ya, Goose.

354/365 - spatula flowers
Took this on a whim, never intending it to be much, but all my other images were truly poor. Wish I would have taken a bit more time, it could have been pretty cool, I think.
353/365 - elephant-sized dad
OK, so over the summer I packed on a few more pounds than I would have liked, but I swear I am back to my normal size. When my oldest daughter came home with this, however...Time to hit the gym a bit harder, I guess.

60/365 - time on my hands
I had 2 shots left for the January Monthly Scavenger Hunt...this is one...
49/365 - got the fever
Decided to give the DSLR a rest today. It was tired after 48 straight days..can't believe tomorrow is day 50.

353/365 - my daddy
My little one was so smiley this morning and kept wanting to hold my hand. I try to soak up these moments as much as I can. Too soon they won't need my hand anymore.
352/365 - traffic bokeh
One hand was on the steering wheel and we were going about 2 mph (vero, remind schnabes it is not safe to drive and photograph at the same time). How can a 15 mile drive take over an hour?
351/365 - first time donor
My wife has probably given her body weight in blood donations in her life. I am about to turn 40 and this was my very first time. I actually got a bit emotional during the process. I know it is only a single pint, but the thought that it could be the difference in someone's life was pretty powerful.
350/365 - ikea and chocolate cake
Swedish meatballs, mac-cheese and chocolate cake. Could life really get any better?
349/365 - little apple orchard
Right next to our school is a little orchard that I have thought of shooting for some time. Today I was running out of time and light as I drove past it. A quick u-turn and...

348/365 - broken house
There are a few small buildings in one of the fields behind my school that are slowly deteriorating which makes them quite photogenic...
347/365 - wonder woman turns 29
...again. I am not sure how she does it, but Michele balances a thousand things a day and does them all perfectly. This morning was her birthday and, with a raging migraine, woke up, made breakfast, read books, shopped, cleaned, answered emails from work, tromped the kids around all day, and took them to swim. Not sure how she does it, but glad she is ours. Happy birthday, Michele!
346/365 - thanks, father martin
I plan to make a better photograph of him someday for sure, but for now this will have to do. Father Martin is one of the Benedictine monks at our school. He has been an inspiration and a support for many years now and I am glad to call him a friend.

345/365 - late, again
Volleyball season is over. The good news is that means more time with my girls every night. Unfortunately, traffic is not cooperating tonight.
PS, Schnabel, I was only going 10 mph.

344/365 - walking to school
Walking my kids to school today (YAY!) I noticed our shadows against the wall. I was armed with only my iPhone, so I went for it. Plugged it into an app called PictureShow and...here it is!
My favorite part is little Alex's "pink" tail. I actually did her hair today, so that is my quality hair craftmanship. Step aside Nick Arrojo!

343/365 - flower in rain
Man, Daylight Savings Time is killing me here! It was only around 5:00 and the sun was setting! Not terribly inspired here of late...I need to step it up and finish strong...

342/365 - speed racer
Look at those legs go! Jess is a running machine now. Her favorite thing is to pick up something from one room and deposit it into another room. It is almost like a video game, following her around and cleaning up her little messes. If she wasn't so cute...
341/365 - senior night
Tonight was Senior Night. A bittersweet event for me and I got choked up many times throughout the evening. We are losing six amazing young ladies to graduation this year and I will miss each of them. We played one of our best matches of the year and the season really could not have ended on a better note.
339/365 - senior practice
The last practice of the year is planned by our departing seniors. It is always fun, filled with laughter, dancing and even a tiny bit of volleyball. They play their final game on Friday, already a bit sad...
338/365 - feeling like a knob
My team just played pretty badly in a game that was quite important and I had completely forgotten to take a photo during the day...as I sat in my car waiting for my assistant coach, I grabbed my iPhone and hurried off the shot of my stick-shift knob illuminated by a streetlight. Arggggggghhhhhh!
337/365 - world series champs
If only a photograph could capture sound...I was at a local bar and grille watching game five with about 200 other Giants fans. The eruption after the final pitch still brings chills...I was wishing I had brought my dslr, but this is actually perfect.
336/365 - trick or treat
Loved watching my two oldest girls sprint from house to house tonight. Happy Halloween!

335/365 - ttv attemempt #1
Had yet to try taking a TTV shot, so today I grabbed my old Kowa 6 and a macro lens and went for it. It's a bit tricky and I certainly have some work to do, but it was a blast trying to figure it all out.

334/365 - contemplative
Little Alex is so emotional. Her feelings are fragile and she can take a while to bounce back when she gets upset. I'd like to blame my wife for passing this trait to her, but I am likely the culprit...
333/365 - Arastradero faux x-pro
The clouds were amazingly cool this morning. Had a bit of fun with a curves adjustment layer to give it a touch of cross-processing feel.
332/365 - posted
Dropped the girls off at before-school extended care. Saw this sign I had passed a hundred times, but liked the pine needles clinging to the fence. Of course, I had left my camera in the car, so iPhone and the PictureShow app is the result...
331/365 dia de los muertos
Our school does a pretty intensive Dia de los Muertos celebration. No food this year, which was a bit of a bummer, but that is not really the point of the the day.
330/365 - sf shoe shine
A quick little photo walk in San Francisco today as I helped chaperon a computer science field trip.
329/365 - premium quality dad time
Volleyball season has been going strong for over three months and my two oldest kids are missing me a bit. Both requested "daddy dates" to get some quality time today. The feeling is certainly mutual and the dates were a blast. Just two more weeks!!!!
23 October 2010
327/365 - rosy drops
Yes, another flower picture, but on such a grey day, I could not resist this pop of color.
326/365 - el macho
Grabbed my camera and right as I was about to shoot, noticed it was out of batteries. Luckily, I always have a backup, so I popped it in. It was dead as well. Time for an iPhone shot, I guess. This is $1 after shave that my wife bought for all the members of our Social Studies Department. Get Macho!
325/365 - my three
Michele brought the girls up to my volleyball game today. I promise, I did not tell Gabby to write that poster. Honest!
19 October 2010
324/365 - hecks yes!!!!!!
Oh my goodness that was a great game. Yes, it ended at around 3:30, but I had forgotten to take a POTD, so here it is.
18 October 2010
323/365 - fingers crossed
Taking my girls to school is a highlight of my Mondays and Wednesdays. I got a little testy when my wife offered to take them today instead of me...Sorry, Michele.
322/365 - flip flops for peace
Loading up our van for the ride home, I noticed these flip flops on the porch. Sad to head home, as it was a great trip, but very happy to see my girls.
321/365 - the flizz
Wish I had composed this a bit better, but what can you do...live and learn, right? This is my boy, Floyd. My kids call him Uncle Flizzle Bizzle, my wife calls him my "other wife", and our team jokes about our "bromance". Truth is, he is a great friend and I can't imagine coaching without him.
320/365 - rear view mirror
Driving our amazingly hilarious (and talented...but mostly hilarious) volleyball team down to Santa Barbara for a match. Unlike #319, I was safely parked while snapping this one...
319/365 - sun up
Our first really cool sky in a long time. Don't tell the police, but I snapped this while driving! I slowed down, of course and made sure no one was behind me...Wish I would have taken the time to stop, it was actually quite beautiful...
13 October 2010
318/365 - sunsplashed flower
Another day arriving at home right as the sun sets...I should really consider cranking out a shot or two during the day, but where's the stress in that?
317/365 - you're the one
Two accidents turned my normal 30 minute commute into an agonizing hour plus jaunt. It also was quickly stealing the last light from the day, so I snapped a terrible shot of a rubber duck (he sits on my dash) using my iPhone camera. Popped it into PictureShow to at least make it somewhat interesting...
